"A System of Residence Space Construction" – Geometric Analysis

The geometric analysis aims to specify a homogenous cohesive 3D spatial allocation of potential architectural facilities. The required allocation is represented as a 3D lattice of which the nodes denote potential architectural spaces, while the edges denote potential contacts between these spaces. The abstract form of each architectural space is given by the polyhedron dual to the respective node: this is the polyhedron formed by the perpendicular bisector Planes of all the edges attached to that node.

Cohesion is closely related to variability, as—given the appropriate ergonomic dimensions of the architectural spaces—increases the number of the potential architectural spaces per volume unit, consequently exponentially increases the number of the potential architectural compositions. The possibility to shift / reallocate parts of the lattice according to specific rules (this possibility has a uniform distribution in space) multiplies variability.
